In statements to the MBC Egypt channel, Fidan said that the fraternal ties between the Turkish and Egyptian peoples have always been strong, adding that the great similarity between them makes it difficult to distinguish between the two. Meanwhile, the relationships between the political and bureaucratic elites have reached an “excellent” level, enabling the discussion of all issues directly.
He explained that cooperation between the two countries is experiencing significant solidarity and is continuously developing, describing the trade relations as “extremely excellent.” He pointed out promising opportunities for further enhancement of bilateral relations, according to Turkish “Anadolu” news.
He confirmed that “Turkey and Egypt have begun to discover immense potential that can be achieved through the integration of their capabilities,” noting that “this is not limited to Egypt alone but includes cooperation with other countries in the region.”
He emphasized the “necessity of enhancing cooperation between Ankara and Cairo professionally and making greater efforts at the executive levels,” stating: “There is political intention and will, but on the ground, we must make more effort.”
Regarding potential disagreements, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan clarified that friendship makes resolving them easier, noting that differences in positions on Libya have diminished over time thanks to communication and trust, as well as in the cases of Sudan and Gaza. He described the cooperation between the two countries on the Palestinian issue as “extremely close, working together as one body.”
It is noteworthy that in February 2024, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan visited Egypt for the first time since his Egyptian counterpart, Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, took office, with Sisi welcoming the Turkish president to open a “new page” in relations between the two countries.
