The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement on social media, expressing the country’s strong condemnation of these terrorist acts and its categorical rejection of all forms of violence and terrorism aimed at undermining security and stability.
Lana Nusseibeh, UAE Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs, reiterated today, Monday, her country’s position rejecting any Israeli steps related to the annexation of territories. Speaking at the annual “Hili Forum” in the UAE capital, Abu Dhabi, under the theme “Resetting the International Order: Trade, Technology, and Governance,” she emphasized that this move represents a “red line.”
She explained, “If Israel proceeds with annexing Palestinian territories, it will not only close the door to peace and integration but also betray the spirit of the Abraham Accords. For the United Arab Emirates, this is not only a political issue but also a matter of principle and peace in our region, and it is also a red line.”
Nusseibeh affirmed that “the future of the Palestinian cause is a cornerstone for ensuring a peaceful future in the Middle East,” while simultaneously calling for the cessation of the ongoing Israeli war, noting that ending this war “cannot tolerate further delay.”
The Abraham Accords, signed during the first term of U.S. President Donald Trump in September 2020, saw the normalization of diplomatic relations between the UAE, Bahrain, and Morocco with Israel, following mediation by the U.S. government.
It is worth noting that Netanyahu proposed the idea of annexing the West Bank and the Jordan Valley in 2020, describing it as a historic opportunity that comes only once in a century. The idea of imposing sovereignty over the West Bank and the term “” dates back to after the 1967 war when Israel occupied Palestinian and Arab lands, a phrase associated with a purported geographical context about the borders of the State of Israel in the region.
Currently, Israel is engaged in a wide-scale war against the Gaza Strip ongoing since October 7, causing the death of more than 63,000 Palestinians and injuring about 160,000 others, according to data from the Ministry of Health in Gaza. Meanwhile, Netanyahu rejects all local and global calls to end the war and opposes any internal voices demanding a truce deal.
