Safy pointed out, in an intervention via ‘Sputnik’ radio, that ‘the project of joining NATO is no longer an option on the table and has ended.’ He explained that ‘this project aimed to encircle Russia, but they realized that there is no way for Ukraine to join the Atlantic Alliance.’ He considered that ‘Europe cannot enjoy security and rebuild the geopolitical landscape without taking into account Russia’s national security concerns.’

He saw that ‘Ukraine is not a partner in decision-making because the talks are taking place in the White House and the Kremlin to end the crisis.’ He said that ‘Kyiv faces a major dilemma: either accept Trump’s plan or lose American support, which it relies on for weapons and intelligence exchange. Without support, it cannot endure in this conflict.’ Accepting Trump’s plan means they would accept significant concessions, and if they do not, they risk losing a major ally.

He confirmed that ‘Kyiv is in a big dilemma,’ adding that ‘the best option is for European countries to sit with Moscow to discuss European security options and look for permanent stability.’ He revealed that ‘the British, German, and French positions are still unclear until now.’

Earlier, the American administration announced a plan to settle the Ukrainian crisis, noting that they will not discuss its details currently, as ‘work is still ongoing.’ The Kremlin stated that Russia remains committed to the talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his American counterpart Donald Trump, which took place in Anchorage, Alaska.
