Shoigu stated in a meeting with Egypt’s Presidential Advisor for National Security, Fayza Abu El Naga: “I hope that the event we anticipate on November 19, which is the installation of the reactor body for the first unit, will be successful.” Shoigu arrived in the capital Cairo last Sunday, leading a ministerial delegation to hold talks with senior political and military leaders in Egypt, according to the press service of the council.
The statement from the Russian Security Council’s press service mentioned: “Russian Security Council Secretary Sergey Shoigu has arrived in Egypt to conduct talks with senior political and military leaders in the country. During his visit to Cairo, meetings are scheduled with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and National Security Advisor Fayza El Naga. His agenda also includes meetings with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Aty, Minister of Defense and Military Production Major General Abdel Majeed Saqr, and heads of security and special agencies.”
On October 24, the specialized port of Dabaa witnessed the arrival of the reactor pressure vessel for the first nuclear unit as part of the Dabaa nuclear power plant project in Egypt, marking a major achievement in the progress of the national project for electricity generation through nuclear energy. The Egyptian Nuclear Power Plants Authority confirmed in a statement that “the vessel is one of the most important components of the reactor, containing the nuclear reactor core where controlled reactions occur, and is characterized by its high capacity to withstand pressure and high temperatures, ensuring complete sealing against any leaks, making it a cornerstone in the nuclear safety system.”
The vessel was manufactured at the “Izhora” plant of the Russian “Rosatom” corporation, weighing over 330 tons, with Egyptian experts participating in inspections to ensure compliance with global quality standards.
