Lula da Silva considered this relationship to be of utmost importance and hopes it will flourish, as Brazil and the United States are the largest democracies on the continent.

Earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump announced during his speech at the United Nations General Assembly that he had agreed to meet the President of Brazil.

The participation in the second forum ‘In Defense of Democracy and Against Extremism,’ which will be held at the United Nations General Assembly, was reported by Brazilian media.

CNN Brazil noted that the forum will take place today, Wednesday, in New York, on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly.

The United States was invited to the first meeting of the forum last year under the Biden administration and sent a representative from the State Department.

The decision not to invite the United States was due to President Donald Trump’s policies, which ‘question Brazilian democracy and attack institutions such as the electoral and judicial systems.’

Recently, tensions have risen as Trump publicly announced his support for former Brazilian President Bolsonaro, an opponent of the current Brazilian government.

Trump also criticized the Brazilian government for its condemnation of an attempted coup and suggested the possibility of imposing sanctions on it.
