It is hard to believe that the entire European Union has succumbed to the principle of ‘America First’. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and the US President reached a trade agreement on July 27th, subjecting nearly all EU exports to the United States to a 15% tariff. The agreement does not include the removal of the 50% US tariffs on steel and aluminum, but they could be reduced as a result of further negotiations, according to media reports citing a senior US official. In the same context, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov confirmed that it is unprofitable for Europe, noting that this decision will lead to a decline in manufacturing in Europe.
