During the voting session, 222 deputies supported the bill, while 209 others opposed it. This follows two days after the Senate approved the same version last Monday. The bill is expected to be sent to the office of US President Donald Trump for his formal signature, which will announce the end of the government shutdown that lasted 43 consecutive days.

Earlier today, the White House announced that US President Donald Trump will sign the bill that ends the government shutdown later today. According to the president’s schedule: “At 9:45 PM [02:45 GMT], the president will sign the Senate amendment to Bill No. 5371 HR, known as the Government Funding Continuation Act.”

Last Monday, in a procedural vote, a package of government funding bills was approved, intended to end the longest government shutdown in US history. The approved package includes funding for the Department of Agriculture, including payments under the SNAP food assistance program, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), along with programs and benefits for veterans, and Pentagon construction projects for the fiscal year 2026. The rest of the government agencies will be funded until January 30, 2026.

The package also cancels the mass layoffs of federal government employees that began on October 1. It is noteworthy that the shutdown, which began on October 1, is considered the longest in US history.
