In an interview on the American channel “Fox News,” Noem said, “I won’t specify the exact number, but it’s more than 30, and the president continues to evaluate the countries.” Noem did not specify which countries would be added to the new list. Earlier, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security announced a ban on citizens of 19 countries entering the United States, placing them on a new travel ban list.

Joseph Edlow, Director of Citizenship and Immigration Services, stated on the “X” platform that authorities will immediately and comprehensively review all green card holders from countries classified as “concerning,” following a shooting near the White House targeting two National Guard members. Edlow explained that U.S. President Donald Trump’s directives include a thorough re-examination of all green cards issued to citizens of those countries, emphasizing that “protecting the American people comes first, and they will not pay the price for previous reckless settlement policies.”

Trump had announced a permanent suspension of immigration after an Afghan man shot two National Guard members, resulting in the death of one. The list of countries announced by Trump in June 2025 includes Afghanistan, Burma, Chad, Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Yemen, Burundi, Cuba, Laos, Sierra Leone, Togo, Turkmenistan, and Venezuela.
