Witkoff stated at a business forum in Florida, USA, that he would return to Washington, D.C., to attend the announcement. He refused to disclose the country that will sign the agreement, according to Israel’s ‘Jerusalem Post.’ If confirmed, this step will represent the latest expansion of these agreements, which began in 2020 with the historic accords between Israel, the United Arab Emirates, and Bahrain, later joined by Morocco and Sudan.

The Abraham Accords have been a cornerstone of U.S. diplomatic efforts in the Middle East, aiming to enhance regional cooperation and reshape alliances following changes in geopolitical interests. The addition of a new country—if formalized—would mark a significant development amid escalating tensions in the region, following the attack led by the Palestinian movement ‘Hamas’ on Israel on October 7, and ongoing hostilities involving Iran-backed groups in Lebanon, Syria, and Yemen.

Steve Witkoff was appointed as a special envoy for normalization by the Trump administration in early 2025 and played a pivotal role in efforts to expand the agreements, despite the challenges posed by ongoing regional conflicts.
