Barcelona’s manager, Hansi Flick, expressed happiness over Lamine Yamal’s return to form but emphasized the need for careful management of his groin injury. The young star played a key role in a thrilling 3-3 Champions League draw against Club Brugge on Wednesday.

Following a period of groin issues, the 18-year-old built on his impressive LaLiga performance, where he scored his first league goal since August. In Belgium, Yamal showed his prowess again as Barca equalized three times to secure a point.

Nicolo Tresoldi and Ferran Torres exchanged early goals, but Carlos Forbs gave the hosts the lead before halftime. Yamal equalized shortly after the hour with a cool finish following a brilliant run that split the defense.

“I’m delighted to see Lamine performing at this level. However, we must be cautious about his future. Managing his condition is crucial because it’s challenging,” Flick stated.

“He needs to focus on his training regimen and treatments, hoping the pain subsides,” he added.

Yamal received a pass outside the box, navigated past two defenders, passed to Fermin Lopez, and continued his run to slot in Lopez’s back-heel pass.

“I always aim to do my best. The play developed quickly, and Fermin’s clever flick set me up perfectly,” Yamal remarked post-match.

Despite Forbs putting Brugge ahead in the 63rd minute, Yamal’s effort, deflected by Christos Tzolis, resulted in a 3-3 draw following an own goal.

Yamal addressed rumors about his injury and mental state, dismissing them as exaggerated and based on false reports.

“Much has been said about my groin condition and my mood, but it’s all false. I’ve remained positive, focused on my work, and eager to play at this high level, where I enjoy myself most,” he clarified.

Yamal’s scoring prowess drew comparisons with Barcelona legend Lionel Messi, yet he remains grounded amid the accolades.

“Messi has scored countless goals like that. I need to carve my own path and aim to score many more,” he said.
