Apple is set to reveal the iPhone 17 lineup on Tuesday, September 9. As the date nears, new leaks are surfacing, offering insights into expected features like major SIM alterations and a revamped official case.
In the US, current iPhones already lack a physical SIM slot, utilizing eSIM technology exclusively. Now, according to MacRumors, Apple Authorised Resellers in the EU are being prepped for the same transition. This indicates that eSIM-only iPhones may soon expand beyond the US.
Rumors about the ultra-thin iPhone 17 Air model being eSIM-exclusive have circulated for months. However, recent updates hint that more models—not just the Air—might eliminate physical SIM cards in more regions.
Apple’s strategy aligns with an industry-wide trend. As per a TechRadar report, Google launched the Pixel 10 series as eSIM-only in the US, marking its shift away from traditional SIMs. The eSIM transition is seen as inevitable due to benefits like enhanced security, simpler carrier switching, and a cleaner design.
Preview of the new iPhone 17 Pro clear case
Meanwhile, leakers @MajinBuOfficial and @SonnyDickson have shared images of what seems to be Apple’s new iPhone 17 Pro Clear Case with MagSafe. While a clear case exists for the iPhone 16 Pro, the leaked design showcases significant adjustments.

The latest version appears less transparent with a solid panel covering most of the phone’s back, concealing the MagSafe connectors. It also features a larger cut-out for the camera module, consistent with rumors of a redesigned camera system. Another subtle change is the repositioning of the Apple logo slightly lower, now centered beneath the camera cluster.
With Apple’s ‘Awe Dropping’ event on September 9 fast approaching, all eyes are on Cupertino to see which leaks prove accurate.
