One of India’s lesser-known sporting tales is making its way to the big screen. Arjun Chakravarthy: The Untold Story of a Kabaddi Legend will debut in Telugu on August 29, aligning with India’s National Sports Day and the Pro Kabaddi League season.

Directed by Vikrant Rudra and starring Vijaya Rama Raju and Sija Rose, the movie delves into the life of Arjun Chakravarthy, a determined kabaddi player who represented India in the 1980s. His journey reflects the challenges many athletes face, playing with zeal yet missing out on recognition, financial stability, and the support commonly given to more popular sports.

“This film transcends cinema; it’s a tribute to kabaddi and every athlete striving for recognition against all odds. We are honored to share Arjun’s inspiring story at such a significant time,” said Srinivasa Rao Gubbala, a producer.

Dubbed as the ‘journey of an unsung champion,’ the film is already garnering international praise. It has won 46 awards at global film festivals, including notable accolades in Canada and Los Angeles—an extraordinary achievement for a kabaddi-themed sports drama in Indian cinema.

Rohith Thumma, Executive Producer for Branding, Partnerships, and Strategy, stated: “Our aim is not just to narrate a story but to spark a national dialogue about the unsung heroes of Indian sports. Arjun Chakravarthy represents resilience, dignity, and pride—qualities that define India’s athletes beyond the limelight.”
