The participants in the conference renewed their call for a transparent and independent international investigation into the “war crimes” committed by Israel against journalists and for holding those responsible accountable.
The President of the Journalists and Journalists Union, Alsy Mufrej, delivered a speech criticizing the “international silence and Lebanese official negligence” in addressing the issue, pointing out that journalists were “killed twice, once by the Israeli enemy’s weapon, and again by international silence.”
She revealed the existence of 12 investigations and reports issued by international and UN organizations, all concluding that Israel targeted journalists in a “described war crime.” The conference witnessed notable attendance from representatives of prominent international organizations such as “Human Rights Watch,” “Amnesty International,” “Reporters Without Borders,” and the “Committee to Protect Journalists.”
At the end of the conference, videos documenting Israeli violations against journalists were shown, including supportive messages from these organizations that pursue the path of justice. The participants affirmed that “rights do not die as long as there are those who demand them,” emphasizing their continued efforts to raise their voices and demand justice and accountability for the martyr colleagues so that the perpetrators of these crimes do not escape punishment.
