Tyler Robinson has been officially charged with the murder of notable US conservative activist Charlie Kirk, prosecutors in Utah confirmed on Tuesday.
Robinson faces additional charges including felony firearm discharge, justice obstruction, witness tampering, and committing violent acts in the presence of minors.
Kirk, a known associate of former President Donald Trump, was fatally shot last week during a speaking event at a Utah university. He was the founder of the influential conservative group Turning Point USA.

Authorities report that 22-year-old Robinson used a rifle to shoot Kirk once in the neck from a rooftop. Following a 33-hour search, Robinson was apprehended.
“After evaluating the evidence gathered by law enforcement, I am charging Tyler James Robinson, age 22, with the following offenses,” stated Utah County Attorney Jeff Gray at a press briefing.
“Count one, aggravated murder, a capital crime, for intentionally causing Charlie Kirk’s death, posing a substantial risk to others.”
Six additional charges include justice obstruction and witness tampering, allegedly instructing his roommate to remain silent.
“I am filing a notice to pursue the death penalty,” Gray concluded.
“This decision is not made lightly and is based solely on the evidence and nature of the crime.”
