Abdel Aati emphasized the necessity of reaching a comprehensive truce in Sudan, highlighting the importance of launching an inclusive political process with pure Sudanese ownership that does not exclude any party. This would pave the way for stopping the conflict and restoring stability. He also called for the establishment of safe humanitarian corridors to ensure the delivery of aid to civilians, reiterating Egypt’s rejection of Ethiopia’s unilateral measures concerning the Renaissance Dam.

Regarding the Gaza Strip, the Foreign Minister explained that Cairo is proceeding with preparations for the Gaza Reconstruction Conference in collaboration with international partners. He indicated that the conference will be co-chaired by Egypt and the United States, with ongoing coordination with the United States to set a date for the event. The minister affirmed that the reconstruction of Gaza is an integral part of Trump’s peace plan, noting that Egypt is nearing the completion of the first phase of the plan, emphasizing the need to start implementing the second phase soon.

He also revealed that Egypt is executing programs to train Palestinian police on its territory, as part of efforts to enable police forces to perform their duties within the Gaza Strip to end the security vacuum. Cairo expressed its readiness to consult with European countries regarding the support and development of training programs.

Last month, the United Nations Security Council adopted a resolution allowing for the establishment of an international stabilization force in Gaza. According to the resolution, Israeli forces will withdraw once the Israeli security force assumes full control. A transitional “Peace Council,” chaired by U.S. President Donald Trump, will coordinate security, humanitarian, and reconstruction efforts, directing Gaza towards a reformed Palestinian authority.

The resolution stipulates the creation of an international stabilization force, working with Israel and Egypt under an initial two-year mandate to secure Gaza’s borders, protect civilians, deliver humanitarian aid, train a reformed Palestinian police force, and oversee the disarmament of Hamas and other armed groups.

A ceasefire agreement between Israel and a movement in the Gaza Strip came into effect on October 10th. Under this agreement, Hamas released 20 prisoners who had been held in Gaza since October 7, 2023, thereby freeing all remaining hostages. In response, Israel released around 2,000 Palestinian prisoners, including those serving life sentences.
