When I arrived in the UAE as a young professional in the early 1990s, I couldn’t foresee the incredible journey ahead. Reflecting on my experiences, I am deeply grateful to this extraordinary nation, which turns the impossible into reality and inspires countless individuals with its vision, opportunities, and unwavering pursuit of excellence.
I started my medical practice on Naif Road, Dubai, in a city full of ambition. From Deira’s historic streets to Sheikh Zayed Road’s evolving skyline, every corner reflected progress. I admired Jumeirah’s iconic villas and dreamed of a future built on professional success and meaningful societal contributions. With determination, hard work, and the support of a nation that fosters talent and innovation, that vision has blossomed. Today, the UAE is not only my home but also a second home for millions of expatriates who have found opportunity and recognition here.
Seeing the transformative growth of the UAE over the decades has been truly inspiring. Institutions like the Dubai World Trade Centre have created global business connections, Emirates airlines has become a world-class carrier, and the Department of Economic Development has strengthened entrepreneurship with investor-friendly policies. Participating in initiatives like the Dubai Quality Award in the 1990s allowed me to witness firsthand the nation’s commitment to excellence, a commitment that remains as strong today.
Beyond economic growth, the UAE’s core values have left a lasting impact on me. Unity, tolerance, safety, and humanitarian outreach are lived experiences here, fostering a sense of belonging and purpose. These values encourage individuals to dream big and contribute positively. In recognition of these efforts, I was honored to receive the Icon of UAE Award in 2023, alongside accolades for Fathima Healthcare Group’s contributions to healthcare. This recognition reflects the UAE’s ethos of valuing dedication and promoting innovation.
The UAE’s journey itself is a source of inspiration. Over the past five decades, it has seen growth in education, healthcare, infrastructure, business, technology, and culture. Visionary leadership has transformed deserts into vibrant cities and dreams into realities. This spirit of determination, resilience, and innovation motivates every resident to contribute to the nation’s progress.
