In an interview with the American channel NBC today, Sunday, Vance said, “We do not believe that the continuation of the conflict serves the interests of Russia and Ukraine, so we will continue to push for a diplomatic solution.” The American Vice President explained that Moscow “has already made significant concessions on the matter, stating that they are “ready to show flexibility in their core demands.”
He continued, “We have already identified two critical issues, one for the Ukrainians and another for the Russians. I believe this is where the fruits of the agreement will come,” noting that these issues are considered security guarantees for Kyiv, in addition to the matter of territories. Russia will also participate in discussing security guarantees.
Vance affirmed that the United States does not intend to send American troops to Ukraine, but it will continue to play an active role in ensuring Kyiv’s security. Putin added that, in addition, Kyiv must announce its abandonment of its intentions, disarm, and adopt a neutral, non-aligned, and non-nuclear status.
Putin also mentioned in this context the lifting of sanctions imposed on Russia.
