During the holy celebration of Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s Prakash Purab, Dr. Deepak Mittal, the newly-appointed Indian Ambassador to the UAE, visited the Guru Nanak Darbar Gurudwara in Dubai with Dr. Alpna Mittal. They paid their respects and joined in special prayers honoring the birth anniversary of the first Sikh Guru.
Dr. Mittal began his diplomatic mission in the UAE by seeking blessings at the Gurudwara. He was warmly welcomed by Dr. Surender Singh Kandhari, chairman, and Dr. Bubbles Kandhari, vice-chairperson of the Guru Nanak Darbar Gurudwara, along with the management committee and the Sikh community. A Saropa (robe of honor) was bestowed upon Dr. Mittal and Dr. Alpna Mittal as a token of respect and blessing.
On this occasion, Dr. Mittal expressed joy at starting his UAE tenure with the Gurudwara’s divine blessings. He applauded the congregation’s unity and devotion, and praised the reverence with which Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s and India’s traditions and values are maintained. He also lauded the UAE Rulers’ vision of tolerance and freedom, enabling people of all faiths to coexist, worship, and celebrate their heritage harmoniously.
Dr. Surender Singh Kandhari noted that the ambassador and his wife’s visit on such a sacred day was deeply meaningful for the Sikh and Indian community.
“The Gurudwara symbolizes peace, service, and unity and embodies Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s universal message and India’s timeless spirit. We are fortunate to practice our faith and serve humanity under this great nation’s wise and benevolent leadership,” he said.
The visit concluded with the traditional Ardas (prayer) and Langar (community meal), highlighting Sikh values of equality, humility, and service. The air was filled with devotion, music, and togetherness, echoing Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s eternal message — “Recognize all mankind as one.”
