In celebration of Emirati Women’s Day, several parking spots across Dubai have been dedicated to honoring five trailblazing Emirati women and their remarkable achievements.

Parkin PJSC, Dubai’s public parking service, has assigned five areas to bear the names and stories of these esteemed women. Each location reflects their career paths, inviting motorists and the public to not only recognize their accomplishments but also their significant contributions to nation-building.

“We celebrate these Emirati women who are beacons of progress. By associating their achievements with Parkin’s parking locations, we’ve crafted a map that traces their journey,” the company remarked.

Meet the five influential Emirati women:

Nayla Al Khaja

Nayla stands as the UAE’s pioneering female film director, known for her intricate storytelling addressing social taboos. Her debut feature ‘Three’ holds the record as the longest-running independent film in Mena, with 120 days in cinemas. It was showcased at Vox Cinemas and Arab Film Week in Alserkal Avenue.

  • Zone 364C in Al Quoz honors her legacy.

Sahar Parham Al Awadhi

Sahar is the first Emirati Chef at the renowned Burj Al Arab. She was named Best Pastry Chef in Mena at the World’s 50 Best Awards 2022. Sahar is the chef and owner of Abra, an innovative Emirati cuisine concept set to launch at the Etihad Museum this year.

  • Jumeirah 1 marks her culinary influence, with Zone 321A celebrating her achievements.

Amna Al Habtoor

Amna founded Arcadia in 2017, a fragrance house inspired by memories. Her avant-garde perfumery merges nostalgia with bold expression, bridging UAE’s fragrance heritage with modern global culture. Al Wasl is where her aromatic journey unfolds.

  • Zone 343C honors her contributions.

Zahraa Lari

Zahraa is the first international competitive figure skater from the UAE and the Mena region. A five-time UAE National Champion, she advocates for development and is a trailblazer for hijab-wearing athletes. She established the Emirates Skating Club in Abu Dhabi and Mirdif, Dubai.

  • Zone 251C highlights her achievements.

Amal Murad

Amal, a 33-year-old mother of two, has pioneered as the region’s first Emirati parkour coach. Transitioning from a corporate graphic designer to a fitness entrepreneur, she embodies the bold spirit of modern Emirati women. Her platform, ‘Leap of Hope’—a nod to her name, Amal (meaning hope in Arabic)—empowers women through movement. As she shared with Khaleej Times: “The biggest misconception is that parkour is an extreme sport with constant building jumps. It’s really about movement, learning to navigate from point A to point B safely and efficiently. It’s about viewing obstacles as pathways, not barriers.” Al Quoz is the heart of her parkour journey.

  • Zone 369C is dedicated to her honor.

Nominate more Emirati women

These specially designated parking zones will be available until August 30. Parkin mentions parked cars with QR codes in these locations that provide more information on the Emirati women and the campaign.

The public is invited to participate in the campaign by nominating an Emirati woman to be honored next year.
