Dubai Taxis Get Dedicated Parking and Rest Areas

Dubai’s taxi drivers will benefit from dedicated parking and rest areas within specific zones to enhance their well-being. This initiative follows an agreement signed on Wednesday between Parkin Company PJSC, Dubai’s largest paid parking provider, and Dubai Taxi Company (DTC) at Gitex Global 2025.

Per the agreement, Parkin will provide parking spaces for taxis in busy areas, especially near major events, and introduce rest areas within these zones.

Creating rest areas is crucial for maintaining taxi drivers’ health, similar to Dubai’s air-conditioned rest areas for delivery riders. In July, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) introduced 15 new air-conditioned rest areas for delivery riders at key bus and metro stations, adding to the 40 permanent facilities across the emirate.

Both Parkin and DTC emphasized that their agreement aims to enhance customer experience by offering value-added services that increase convenience for both taxi passengers and drivers.

“The agreement demonstrates Parkin’s dedication to advancing Dubai’s smart city and sustainability goals by developing intelligent, customer-focused parking solutions that also prioritize driver welfare,” stated Eng. Mohamed Abdulla Al Ali, CEO of Parkin.

“We are merging our expertise in parking operations and mobility services to introduce integrated solutions that support the growing demand for efficient, sustainable, and tech-enabled urban transport in the Emirate. We aim to set new standards for customer experience, operational efficiency, and smart mobility in Dubai,” he added.

As part of the agreement, rapid electric vehicle (EV) chargers will be installed at strategic locations to aid the transition to eco-friendly taxi fleets.

“By integrating advanced parking and charging infrastructure with our expanding fleet operations, we are improving driver welfare, operational efficiency, and customer convenience,” said DTC CEO Mansoor Rahma Alfalasi.

Parkin and DTC will also share data to identify high-demand charging and parking spots to optimize operational efficiency. The partnership offers joint investment opportunities and potential ventures in technology and smart mobility services.
