Feldkamp said in a statement that the government “has already taken significant steps,” adding, “I felt resistance within the government against taking further actions due to what is happening in Gaza City and the occupied West Bank at the moment.” He added that he felt other ministers would not support him, explaining, “This is something that will not change in the coming months and years, and if my room for maneuver is so limited, I will go home and write my resignation letter,” according to “Dutch News.”

Eric van der Burg, a member of the People’s Party for Freedom and Democracy, said he was “shocked,” as he put it, by the decision of the Dutch Foreign Minister, Kasper Feldkamp, while leftist opposition parties mainly expressed their disappointment at Feldkamp’s failure to rally support for these measures.

Kasper Feldkamp stated to the media on Thursday that he wishes to take additional actions against Israel, although a five-hour parliamentary debate made it clear that the caretaker government is divided, and Feldkamp did not coordinate his desires with the rest of the government members. The “BBB” and “VVD” parties, in particular, did not want to go beyond the current measures.

So far, Dutch actions against Israel have been limited to imposing an entry ban on the two far-right Israeli ministers, Itamar Ben Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich.
