The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a social media post that both sides discussed proposals by Witkoff to end the conflict, which include de-escalation, the introduction of humanitarian aid, and the exchange of Israeli hostages and Palestinian prisoners.

During the call, Abdel Aaty warned of the “catastrophic deterioration” of the humanitarian situation, which has reached a famine level, noting the danger of the expansion of Israeli military operations. The plan to control the city of Gaza includes the forced displacement of about one million Palestinians to the southern part of the sector, which has caused widespread international criticism, despite ongoing preparations to implement the plan.

The residents of Gaza suffer from unprecedented levels of hunger, with UN organizations warning of the spread of famine and increased deaths due to malnutrition, especially among children, the sick, and the disabled.

From October 7, 2023, to August 21, 2025, the war on Gaza has resulted in the death of about 62,000 Palestinians and around 157,000 injuries, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza.

Meanwhile, Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov expressed Moscow’s concern about the escalation in Gaza and the civilian casualties, affirming that Moscow closely monitors the situation and looks forward to a return to the path of peace.
