During the call, President Sisi expressed his appreciation for the development of Egyptian-French relations after they were elevated to the level of a strategic partnership during Macron’s visit to Cairo in April 2025. He emphasized the positive impact this has on bilateral cooperation in various fields. The presidents discussed ways to enhance political, economic, and investment cooperation, increase trade volume, and support the industrial, tourism, and transport sectors between the two countries, according to the Egyptian National Media Authority.
The call also addressed regional situations, particularly the Gaza Strip, where Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi praised French support for Egyptian efforts that led to the cessation of war. He stressed the need to solidify the truce and transition to the second phase of US President Trump’s peace plan. Sisi highlighted the importance of enhancing the entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza and the immediate start of early recovery and reconstruction phases.
Meanwhile, French President Emmanuel Macron commended Egypt’s pivotal role in stabilizing regional peace, especially its efforts in implementing the ceasefire agreement in Gaza. The phone call also touched on the situation in the West Bank, where Sisi emphasized Egypt’s rejection of Israeli violations, calling for support for the Palestinian people and international pressure to stop them, and supporting the Palestinian Authority in fulfilling its commitments to its people.
The Egyptian and French presidents agreed that current efforts should lead to the launch of a comprehensive political process that results in the establishment of an independent Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
At the conclusion of their call, the Egyptian and French presidents exchanged greetings for the New Year, wishing the people of Egypt and France continued stability and prosperity.
