Emergent AI Startup Secures $30M for Global Expansion

Emergent, a rapidly advancing AI startup, has secured $30 million in funding, featuring a $23 million Series A spearheaded by Lightspeed. This follows a $7 million seed round earlier in the year. Established in San Francisco this year, Emergent achieved $15 million in annual recurring revenue (ARR) within just 90 days of its inception, establishing itself as a leading AI startup globally.

With MENA surfacing as a dynamic hub for software innovation and SME digital transformation, Emergent’s expansion into the region aims to empower entrepreneurs and small businesses to develop and scale applications effortlessly without coding. The funding round saw contributions from YC, Together, Prosus, and renowned angels such as Jeff Dean (Google), Devendra Chaplot (Thinking Machines), Siqi Chen (Runway), Srinivasan Venkatachary (Google DeepMind), Prasanna (Rippling), and Balaji Srinivasan.

Emergent’s platform, powered by autonomous AI agents, allows everyone from solo entrepreneurs to SMEs to create full-stack, production-ready applications. Unlike other tools, Emergent provides a ready-to-use app from the start, managing everything from user interfaces to servers, logins, payments, and scaling automatically. Behind the scenes, specialized AI agents code, test, and deploy, simulating a personal cloud-based development team. These agents identify and resolve issues, work through lengthy sessions, and remember ongoing projects. The coding agent and the supporting infrastructure were developed in-house to ensure reliability, speed, and security.

“My brother and I launched Emergent to provide anyone with an idea and a phone the means to create software affordably,” said Mukund Jha, Co-founder and CEO. “Historically, innovation has been hindered by limited access to technical expertise and capital. Emergent was designed to eliminate these barriers, enabling anyone, from shop owners to startup founders, to realize their visions quickly and cheaply. In regions like MENA, where governments promote digital-first economies and SMEs drive growth, we see vast opportunities. Our platform democratizes innovation, extending it beyond software engineers to everyone.”

Globally, Emergent solutions are gaining traction, with small businesses and individuals leveraging the platform to address real-world issues: a jeweler optimized pricing across 50 stores and now markets her app; a healthcare business digitized wheelchair inventory using photo-based onboarding; in the UK, an EV marketplace app was created, and an individual with chronic pain built a custom tool to manage his condition. In Dubai, a professional discovered Emergent during an AI course and developed a voice-powered productivity app in just a week. He plans to expand it into a comprehensive tool for creators, professionals, and researchers. These examples demonstrate the platform’s potential, and in MENA, Emergent is poised to deliver similar transformative solutions, empowering thousands of SMEs and entrepreneurs to address local challenges and scale effortlessly.

“Remember when photography required knowledge of lenses, aperture, lighting, and film processing? The iPhone simplified all this into a single button for billions. Emergent simplifies software complexity into a single button anyone can use to launch, scale, and profit, and Lightspeed is thrilled to support them on this exhilarating journey,” stated Hemant Mohapatra, Partner at Lightspeed.

The funding will propel Emergent’s expansion into high-growth areas like the Middle East, where governments are heavily investing in digital transformation and SME empowerment through initiatives like UAE Vision 2030 and Saudi Vision 2030. Every spreadsheet hack, manual process, or “there should be an app for that” idea can now effortlessly become reality with Emergent. The brand will be instrumental in helping entrepreneurs, creators, and enterprises across MENA and Asia accelerate innovation.

Emergent has already empowered over 1 million users and facilitated the creation of 1.5 million apps, spanning use cases from retail and healthcare to logistics, personal productivity, and more.
