This came in a post she published on her official page on the site ‘X’, today, Wednesday, in which she called for several measures against Israel due to its ongoing war on Gaza. Von der Leyen said these measures include suspending joint support for Israel, but without affecting civil society. She noted that the measures include new proposals for imposing sanctions on hardline ministers and colonists against Palestinians. The proposed measures also include a partial suspension of trade cooperation and the establishment of a donor group for Palestinians dedicated to the reconstruction of Gaza. The President of the European Commission considered that what is happening in Gaza in terms of famine and war shakes the global human conscience, stressing the need to stop the famine and war. She noted that Europe provides significant aid to Gaza, but more needs to be done. From October 7, 2023, until the current September 8, the situation in Gaza has resulted in the deaths of about 64,000 Palestinians and approximately 163,000 injuries, according to data from the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza.
