Fruit Product Recall Due to Listeria Risk

The recalled products include fruit packages sold under a famous brand in a well-known store across 43 US states and Puerto Rico, according to Western media. The recall decision came after tests confirmed the presence of Listeria in the product, a bacterium that can cause listeriosis, a disease that particularly threatens the elderly, those with weakened immunity, pregnant women, and newborns.

Symptoms of the disease range from fever, headache, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea, and may escalate to serious complications like confusion and seizures if the nervous system is affected. The recalled products, including bananas, strawberries, and apples, are sold in individual packages meant for snacks or to be added to yogurt and smoothies.

The recall covers products distributed between July 1 and July 25, 2025, which have expiration dates between June 24 and July 25, 2027. The FDA has warned consumers against consuming the recalled products, urging them to dispose of them or return them to stores for a refund.

No infections related to the product have been reported so far, but the FDA emphasized the importance of adhering to instructions to avoid risks. Listeria bacteria are common contaminants in foods such as raw vegetables, unpasteurized dairy products, and deli meats, necessitating caution when handling these products.
