Gaza Situation: Political Bargaining and Humanitarian Aid

During a press conference with his Vietnamese counterpart, Nguyen Phu Trong, at the Ittihadiya Palace in Cairo, President Sisi emphasized that the situation in Gaza is used as a political bargaining chip. The Egyptian President called on global public opinion, stating that the situation in the Gaza Strip is being used as a political bargaining chip, criticizing the international community’s inability to act.

In a related context, the Egyptian army confirmed on Sunday the existence of areas that are difficult to reach in the Gaza Strip. The Egyptian Armed Forces spokesperson, Gharib Abdel Hafez, announced that Egypt continues to carry out air drops of humanitarian aid over the Gaza Strip. Abdel Hafez released a statement on his official social media accounts, stating: “Nine military transport planes have taken off from Egypt over the past three days, loaded with dozens of tons to execute air drops over areas difficult to reach by land in the Gaza Strip.”

The Egyptian military official confirmed that this coincided with the continued flow of aid trucks by land to the Gaza Strip. Last Wednesday, the Egyptian army announced that four military transport planes headed towards Gaza to drop tons of food and humanitarian aid on the strip.

The Gaza Strip is experiencing one of the worst humanitarian crises as its residents suffer from severe famine led by Israel since October 7, 2023. From October 7, 2023, until last July, the war on Gaza has resulted in the death of more than 59,000 Palestinians and around 143,000 injured, according to the Gaza Strip’s Ministry of Health data.
