The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its deep appreciation for this historic meeting, affirming that constructive dialogue is the best way to bridge perspectives and resolve conflicts. It noted that the joint efforts made by the presidents to end the Ukrainian crisis inspire hope in enhancing global peace and stability.

Earlier yesterday, Russian President Vladimir Putin and his American counterpart Donald Trump held talks in Alaska. The presidents met at the Elmendorf-Richardson military base, where the discussions in a ‘3 versus 3′ format lasted for two hours and 45 minutes. Trump personally welcomed Russian President Vladimir Putin at Anchorage Airport.

Putin and Trump traveled together to the summit venue in the American president’s limousine, starting their conversation in the car. Both leaders refrained from making opening statements before the talks began, which were conducted with three officials on each side. The talks lasted two hours and 45 minutes, after which the leaders spoke to journalists.

According to Western media, this meeting became the longest ever, with Putin and Trump expressing the countries’ determination to achieve results and pointing to a large number of areas for joint work. The leaders announced their readiness to work towards ending the conflict in Ukraine. According to Trump, ‘there is no agreement on key settlement points, but there is a good chance of reaching one.’

After the talks, the Russian president visited the cemetery where Soviet pilots, who died in 1943 while transporting planes between Alaska and Siberia, are buried.
