This came in press statements today, Thursday, as reported by Iranian news agency ‘Mehr,’ which pointed out Baqaei’s confirmation that there are efforts to create what he described as ‘misleading media atmospheres’ by repeatedly publishing such news.
In a related context, the spokesperson for the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs directed strong criticism towards the performance of the International Atomic Energy Agency, considering that Tehran ‘strongly protests the way the agency handles the Iranian nuclear file.’ Ismail Baqaei emphasized that Iran remains committed to its obligations despite having many reservations about the behavior of the International Atomic Energy Agency.
He noted that the upcoming visit of the agency’s delegation to Iran will not be for inspection purposes but will come within the framework of discussing a new mechanism for cooperation.
Regarding indirect communication channels, Baqaei explained that there is currently a diplomatic path between the two parties to convey messages through intermediaries. He pointed out that the current intermediaries are represented by the U.S. Interests Section in Tehran through the Swiss Embassy and the Iranian Interests Section in Washington through the Pakistani Embassy, noting that the presence of intermediaries is normal between countries under such circumstances.
After the 12-day war it fought with Israel and the United States in June, Tehran decided to suspend cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency and pause nuclear talks with America, especially after participating in bombing its nuclear facilities.
