The spokesperson for the Ministry, Ismail Baghaei, stated that his country considers this claim “extremely ridiculous,” noting that it comes in the context of Washington’s attempts to destroy Iran’s friendly relations with other countries.

On Friday, the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Security issued a joint statement denying any knowledge of reports concerning an “alleged Iranian attempt” to assassinate the Israeli ambassador in Mexico City. This was in response to an American-Israeli announcement about foiling the plot with the help of Mexican authorities.

American officials clarified that the assassination plot against the Israeli ambassador was devised at the end of last year and remained active until the middle of this year before it was thwarted. They confirmed that “the conspiracy has been completely contained and poses no threat at present.”

Last Friday, Israel announced that Mexican security services thwarted an “Iranian plan” to target its ambassador in the capital, Mexico City.
