According to Iraqi media, after allocating 50,000 barrels to meet the internal needs of the region, the remaining quantities will be delivered to the federal government’s company “SOMO.” Iraqi Oil Minister Hayan Abdul Ghani announced last week the resumption of crude exports through Turkey’s “Ceyhan” port, noting that Iraq will initially export 80,000 barrels of oil per day, according to the Iraqi News Agency “INA.” On March 25, 2023, the flow of oil from Iraq to the Ceyhan port stopped following a decision by the International Court of Arbitration in Paris regarding oil exports between Turkey and Iraq. It is noteworthy that, according to the agreements and protocols between the two countries signed in 1973 and renewed in 2010, this line has become a symbol of energy ties between the two countries. However, the increasing expectations of both countries have limited the agreement’s ability to meet current needs and have also necessitated new commercial, legal, and structural arrangements.
