The Israeli electronic outlet ‘Walla’ reported on Sunday morning, citing political sources, that ‘intelligence agencies are making significant efforts to establish a wide-ranging target bank to strike the strongholds of the Houthis in Yemen.’ However, the site, quoting the same sources, clarified that ‘Israel is finding it very difficult to curb the continuous launching of rockets and drones from Yemen, which means that the Israeli home front is always at risk, prompting the Israeli army to respond.’ It noted that ‘striking the Houthis is difficult because most of their strongholds are underground, and some are unknown to Israeli intelligence.’ The political sources, whose names were not mentioned by the site, confirmed that ‘to carry out a large-scale operation, many targets must be gathered whose combined impact could cause very severe damage, unlike the American operation which failed to overcome it.’ Last Friday, the Yemeni group ‘Ansar Allah’ announced that its forces carried out missile and air attacks on Israel, following days of Tel Aviv bombing a power plant in Sana’a (central Yemen), in response to attacks launched by the group, which they justify as support for Palestinian factions in the Gaza Strip against the Israeli army. The spokesman for the ‘Ansar Allah’ group, Brigadier General Yahya Saree, said in a statement broadcast by the group’s Al-Masirah TV that ‘the missile force carried out a qualitative military operation targeting Lod Airport (Ben Gurion Airport) in the occupied Jaffa area with a hypersonic ballistic missile type “Palestine 2”.’ The ‘Ansar Allah’ attack comes days after the group announced last Sunday in Tel Aviv with a hypersonic ballistic missile ‘Palestine 2’, hours after Israel bombed the Haziz station south of Sana’a (central Yemen), leading to its shutdown and power outages in wide areas of the city. Since the outbreak of the Gaza War in October 2023, ‘Ansar Allah’ has been conducting missile and drone attacks on Israel and on ships linked to it or to the United States and its allies in the Red Sea, emphasizing that they come in support of Gaza, and affirming they will continue until Israel stops the war.
