Avichay Adraee, the spokesperson for the Israeli army, mentioned in a statement on Sunday evening that General Zamir’s remarks came during a tour and evaluation of the situation in Gaza, accompanied by the Southern Command leader General Yaniv Assor and other commanders. Zamir told the reservists, “The yellow line that determines the army’s withdrawal site as part of the agreement is a new border line,” affirming his country’s readiness for what he described as a “sudden war scenario.”

The Israeli military commander explained that “the yellow line in the Gaza Strip is a new border line, a frontline defensive line for population centers, and an offensive line,” noting, “We are preparing for the outbreak of a sudden war and must be ready on all fronts.”

General Eyal Zamir added that “the annual maneuvers will simulate the possibility of a sudden war,” emphasizing, “We are working to thwart and eliminate threats in all arenas. We will continue to move forward and enhance the army’s capabilities to face future challenges.”

The agreement came into effect on October 10, 2025, and on the 13th of the same month, US President Donald Trump, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan signed a declaration to establish a ceasefire in Gaza. Under the agreement, the 20 members of the movement who survived the events of October 7, 2023, were released in exchange for Israel’s release of about 2,000 Palestinian detainees from Gaza, including those sentenced to long terms.
