In a statement on the ‘X’ platform, she expressed her condolences to the Lebanese army and the families of the victims, noting that the incident highlights the risks faced by the Lebanese army forces amid their increasing security responsibilities in the south.

The Lebanese army announced on Thursday that two of its members were killed due to the explosion of an Israeli drone that crashed in the Naqoura area in the south of the country. The Lebanese army’s statement read: ‘While army personnel were inspecting a drone belonging to the Israeli enemy after it crashed in the Naqoura area, it exploded, leading to the death of an officer and a soldier and injuring two others.’

The President of Lebanon, Joseph, also expressed his condolences to the army commander for the death of an officer and a senior assistant during the inspection of an Israeli drone that crashed in Ras Naqoura.

In a related context, the US envoy to Lebanon confirmed last Wednesday that ‘Israel will not withdraw from Lebanese territories before the Lebanese government’s plan to confine weapons to state control is implemented,’ noting that Tel Aviv will respond to Beirut’s plan by presenting its own withdrawal plan from Lebanon.

Barak added: ‘Israel will implement steps in parallel with the disarmament of Hezbollah. The Lebanese government will present a plan to disarm Hezbollah, and I believe it will succeed. The Lebanese government has identified 11 points and promised to adhere to them, with the first being the plan to disarm Hezbollah.’
