Al-Wasat reported today, Tuesday, that the Libyan apparatus stated that the deportation of migrants is part of the country’s ongoing efforts to implement the security plan aimed at combating the phenomenon of illegal immigration. The apparatus clarified that there are strict instructions to confront the phenomenon of illegal immigration, to dry up its sources, and to maintain Libyan national security.
It is noted that the Libyan authorities used the heavy military transport aircraft ‘Ilyushin 76’ belonging to the ‘General Command’ to carry out the operation of transferring migrants to their countries. Last Sunday, Al-Wasat reported from the branch of the Illegal Immigration Control Apparatus in Al-Batnan, Libya, the deportation of 103 irregular migrants holding Egyptian nationality through the land crossing of El-Msaad, confirming that the deportation occurred after completing the necessary legal procedures, and that deportation operations continue daily, executed with the highest levels of discipline and readiness.
The apparatus stated that there are instructions to adhere to the directives of Major General Salah Mahmoud Al-Khafifi regarding intensifying efforts of all branches to reduce illegal immigration and enhance security inside and outside the cities. In recent years, Libya has turned into a focal point for illegal immigration trips towards the other side of the Mediterranean, where migrants, mostly of African nationalities, search for a better life in Europe, which complains of the increasing number of arrivals through Libya.
