According to a statement published by the association on social media on Friday, the Chinese National Center for Online Emergency Response found that “U.S. intelligence agencies have, in recent years, focused their cyber attacks on high-tech military universities, research institutes, and institutions in China.” The statement said that “the attacks have become more targeted and their methods more secretive, posing a serious threat to the security of research and production, as well as to the national security of China’s defense and military industries.” As noted by the Chinese Cybersecurity Association, in 2024, groups affiliated with foreign countries carried out more than 600 targeted cyber attacks on major Chinese facilities, with the defense industry being the primary target.
