The International Astronomy Center in the UAE announced today, Saturday, that it will broadcast the anticipated total lunar eclipse live, which can be fully viewed from most of Asia and Australia, and parts of it can be seen from Africa and Europe.
The center posted on its ‘X’ account today, Saturday, that for the eastern part of the Arab world, the moon will rise before the eclipse begins, while it will rise from the middle of the Arab world during the early stages, and from the western part of the Arab world, the moon will rise in the final stages of the eclipse.
It is noted that this phenomenon, which colors the Earth’s moon red, occurs when the sun, Earth, and moon are perfectly aligned in this order, and when the moon is in the full moon phase.
The center explained that usually, the moon does not disappear during a total eclipse due to the sunlight passing through and refracting in the Earth’s atmosphere towards the moon, which then takes on bright colors like yellow, orange, or red. The color of the moon during a total eclipse is considered an indicator of the Earth’s atmospheric purity.
The International Astronomy Center published a picture showing the eclipse timings for some Arab cities.
