Morocco Wins Youth World Cup for First Time

Messi expressed his support for the Argentine national team players following their loss to Morocco: “Hold your heads high, guys… You had a great tournament.” He continued, “Although we all wished to see you win and lift the trophy, we cherish the joy you brought us and take pride in seeing you defend your country’s colors with a beating heart.

The Moroccan youth team was crowned with the World Cup for the first time in its history after a deserved victory over Argentina with two goals to none in the final match, held early Monday morning.

By defeating the Argentine team, Morocco became the first Arab country to win the title, and it is the second African country to claim the championship after Ghana, which won it in 2009, and had lost the final twice in 1993 and 2001.

The Argentine team holds six titles in the Youth World Cup, making it the most crowned team, with one more title than Brazil.
