The Ministry’s spokesperson, Sean Parnell, stated in a post on the platform “X”: “Navy Secretary John C. Whalen will be leaving the administration, effective immediately.” He added, “On behalf of the Secretary of War and his deputy, we are grateful to Secretary Whalen for his service to the ministry and the U.S. Navy,” noting that “Undersecretary Hong Tsao will assume the position of Acting Navy Secretary.”
Recent weeks have seen several changes in the U.S. administration, with resignations including the dismissal of Attorney General Pam Bondi and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem.
Additionally, War Secretary Pete Hegseth dismissed Army Chief of Staff General Randy George earlier. Several individuals familiar with the White House’s plans indicate that “there are active discussions about other officials leaving the administration.”
