At the stroke of midnight on December 2, marking the UAE’s 54th Eid Al Etihad, two expat families celebrated new arrivals at Burjeel Hospital.

Algerian mother Lamia Mermat gave birth to a baby girl named Makkah, weighing 3.110kg. Mermat and her husband, Zuhair Attar, expressed how this timing made their fourth child’s birth extra special. “She is our blessing from God. We chose the name Makkah because it holds a special place in our hearts. We are grateful to welcome her on this significant day,” they shared. The couple also expressed gratitude to the medical team, stating, “The entire team, including Dr. Hala, provided exceptional support.”

Dr. Hala Elsayed, an obstetrics and gynecology specialist at Burjeel Hospital, confirmed both mother and baby were healthy. “While delivering babies is part of our daily work, doing so at such a significant moment leaves a lasting memory,” she noted.
