Optimism for Gaza Agreement in Sharm El-Sheikh Talks

The website ‘Axios’ quoted American officials stating they are optimistic about the chances of reaching an agreement on Gaza this week. They added that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu did an excellent job and that military pressure was crucial in making Hamas more pragmatic.

Earlier today, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi confirmed that negotiations are currently taking place in Sharm El-Sheikh between Palestinians and Israelis to end the war in the Gaza Strip. During a speech at the Police Academy, Sisi expressed appreciation for US President Donald Trump’s genuine will to end the war in Gaza through the ongoing negotiations.

Sisi also noted that American envoys are coming to participate in the negotiations in Sharm El-Sheikh with a genuine desire to end the war in Gaza. He invited US President Donald Trump to visit Egypt to sign an agreement to end the war in Gaza if one is reached.

The Egyptian President emphasized the importance of seizing the opportunity to reach a final agreement to end the war in Gaza during the Sharm El-Sheikh negotiation round. Since last Monday, indirect negotiations have been ongoing in the Egyptian capital between delegations from Hamas and Israel, with mediators from Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey.

These negotiations are part of the plan proposed by the US President to end the ongoing war in the Gaza Strip for two years, release hostages, and start the reconstruction phase. These developments follow days after Hamas announced its acceptance of the American initiative principle, with several Western and Arab capitals confirming their support for Trump’s efforts to reach a comprehensive settlement.
