Saudi Company to Develop Noor Midelt Projects in Morocco

According to the specialized energy platform, a Saudi company specializing in renewable energy projects has won the development of the “Noor Midelt 2” and “Noor Midelt 3” projects in partnership with public and private entities in Morocco. The project operates under the “Build-Own-Operate” (BOO) model, within a power purchase agreement spanning 30 years. It contributes to reducing approximately 1.2 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions and meeting the increasing demand during peak times.

The first phase of the “Noor Midelt 1” project, with a capacity of about 800 megawatts, faced challenges that led to delays in its implementation.

Electricity storage projects in Morocco are planned to be distributed across multiple stations in vital areas of the kingdom, including Kenitra, Settat, Tetouan, Tit Mellil, Khénifra, and Khouribga.

Many countries around the world are increasingly relying on renewable energy sources, most notably solar energy, to reduce carbon dioxide emissions and obtain cleaner energy at a lower cost.
