The Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported on Monday morning that the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia presented a piece of the Kaaba’s covering, adorned with Quranic verses, to be placed in the Umayyad Mosque in Damascus. The agency confirmed that Al-Shara led the prayers at the Umayyad Mosque and delivered a speech wearing the same attire he wore upon his arrival in Damascus after the departure of former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, on December 8, 2024, delivering a sermon from the same pulpit.
Regarding the piece of the Kaaba’s covering gifted to him by Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Al-Shara stated, “We chose to place the piece of the Kaaba’s covering in the Umayyad Mosque to extend the bonds of love and brotherhood from Mecca to the Levant.”
It is worth mentioning that on the twenty-ninth of last month, the transitional Syrian president announced that “the liberation of Aleppo is a historic moment representing a new birth for Aleppo and all of Syria.” The Syrian news agency (SANA) quoted Al-Shara in a speech he delivered at Aleppo Citadel on the anniversary, noting that “the Syrian people made immense sacrifices, and much blood was shed on the city’s walls until liberation was achieved.”
Al-Shara said, “In such moments, emotions overwhelmed us as we watched the heroes enter the city of Aleppo to liberate its people from the fallen regime, and in such moments, Aleppo was reborn.”
