On Wednesday evening, the Saudi Ministry of Defense issued a statement confirming that the military exercises enhance operational readiness, exchange of expertise, and integration in executing joint operations in various combat environments. The exercises commenced at the Fort Irwin military base in the United States, without specifying their duration or the number of participants. It is noted that the giant American Fort Irwin military base covers an area of about 1,200 square miles in the heart of the Mojave Desert between California and Nevada.
Saudi fighter jets participated in the “Red Flag 2025” exercises at the US Nellis Air Force Base with several countries last March. The aim of the Saudi participation was to coordinate efforts to achieve operational alignment for conducting joint operations.
In the same context, the Saudi naval forces conducted the mixed bilateral naval exercise “Blue Sword-4” with their counterparts from the naval forces of the People’s Republic of China on October 14th. The goal was to exchange expertise between the two sides and enhance the combat readiness of the participants.
The Saudi defense statement on the “X” platform stated: “The mixed bilateral naval exercise has commenced between the naval forces represented by units from the Eastern Fleet and their counterparts from the naval forces of the People’s Republic of China, at King Abdulaziz Naval Base of the Eastern Fleet in Jubail.”
The statement continued: “The exercise aims to exchange expertise between the two sides, enhance the combat readiness of the participants, and develop capabilities in the fields of maritime counterterrorism, anti-piracy, mine clearance, and handling tactical drones.”
