The ship also carries furniture and coverings, along with more than 6,000 food items for children containing all types of vitamins and essential elements to save them from the risk of famine and malnutrition. In an exclusive statement to ‘Sputnik,’ Nabil Al-Sukni, the official spokesperson for the ship, explained that ‘The Omar Al-Mukhtar ship is ready to set sail, but weather conditions have prevented it from departing on the scheduled date.’ Al-Sukni added that weather forecasts indicated an improvement in conditions starting next Monday, paving the way for the ship to depart on Tuesday if no other obstacles arise. He confirmed that ‘Omar Al-Mukhtar’ carries many public figures from within and outside Libya, along with the maritime crew, expressing hope that the ship can contribute to breaking the siege on Gaza. The fleet consists of the ‘Freedom Flotilla’ coalition, the ‘Global Gaza Movement,’ the ‘Steadfast Convoy,’ and the Malaysian ‘Nusantara Resilience’ organization, including thousands of activists from 44 countries. Last week, the ‘Global Steadfastness Fleet,’ which intends to head to Gaza, announced that one of its boats was attacked by a drone at the Sidi Bou Said port in Tunisia, noting that this was the second strike of its kind within two days.
