In an interview with ‘Sputnik’ radio, Marai explained that the new authority has made progress in its foreign relations with a large number of countries. However, it has not been able to address the many issues within the domestic file, whether in the south in Sweida, the Syrian coast, or the northeast. He emphasized the necessity of handling these issues with wisdom and knowledge, and the activation of a serious and genuine Syrian national dialogue conference that includes all Syrian diversity.
In the coastal area, Marai pointed out that there is no application of transitional justice and that there are significant issues, including a large number of detainees from the former army. There are also demands for parts of Homs and Hama to have administrative decentralization, as well as demands for achieving security and safety by threatening strikes.
Marai affirmed that marginalizing any of the Syrian components is not possible, and genuine participation is necessary. He noted that the current authority has not yet extended its control over the entire Syrian geography.
