The delegation, which includes alongside Abdi, the leader of the Women’s Protection Units, Rojhat Afrin, and the co-chair of the Foreign Relations Office, Ilham Ahmed, is scheduled to meet with the Syrian interim president, Ahmad Al-Sharaa, and the Foreign Minister, Asaad Al-Shaibani, in a meeting held under American auspices, according to Kurdish media reports.
On Monday, Abdi discussed with an American delegation that included Barak and Cooper, the implementation of the March 10 agreement between the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the Syrian government. The discussions covered practical steps for the agreement’s application, creating conditions to lift sanctions, encouraging investment, and facilitating the return of displaced people.
Intense clashes erupted on Monday between forces affiliated with the Damascus government and the Syrian Democratic Forces around the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods in Aleppo city. Heavy weaponry was used, resulting in casualties and injuries among both forces and civilians.
According to a correspondent, these clashes led to the closure of roads leading to the neighborhoods, with movements to secure the evacuation of several families from the area. Meanwhile, in a statement, the government stated that the army’s movements are part of a redeployment plan in northern and northeastern Syria, in response to “repeated attacks” by the SDF targeting civilians and security forces.
The ministry affirmed its commitment to the March 10 agreement, denying any intention to launch military operations, and pointed out that the army’s goal is to protect civilians and their properties. On the other hand, the Syrian Democratic Forces issued a statement denying the accusations against them, asserting that they withdrew from the area according to previous understandings on April 1.
Official sources reported the killing of three security personnel and injuries to others, while Bahaa Al-Halabi, a reporter for “Syria Now,” was wounded in the side due to gunfire and shelling in the Kurdish neighborhoods.
