Thunberg wrote on her Instagram account (Meta’s activities, which include the social networks Facebook and Instagram, are banned in Russia as extremist): “On August 31, we will launch the largest ever attempt to break the illegal Israeli blockade on the Gaza Strip, with the help of dozens of ships departing from Spain.” In June, the sailboat “Madeleine” set sail, carrying Thunberg, Irish actor Liam Cunningham, known for his role in “Game of Thrones,” and about 10 other activists supporting Palestinians, towards the Gaza Strip. On board the “Madeleine,” which was headed to the Gaza Strip, was French Member of the European Parliament Rima Hassan. The activists were later deported to their countries. On June 8, Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz ordered the military to take all necessary measures to prevent the ship from reaching the shores of the Gaza Strip.
