Trump stated in remarks published on his “Truth Social” platform, late Sunday local time: “The White House has never hosted such a large number of European leaders at once, and I am honored to be their host.” A bilateral meeting is scheduled to begin today, Monday, at 20:15 Moscow time (17:15 GMT), and the second meeting with the participation of EU leaders will start at 22:00 Moscow time (19:00 GMT), according to the White House schedule.
Trump pointed to what he described as a “transformation” in the United States during his presidency, saying: “Just one year ago, America was almost dead, but now it is the hottest country in the world, and everyone is watching. This is the difference a president makes.”
Earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that Vladimir Zelensky could end the war with Russia “almost immediately, if he wanted to, by giving up the peninsula and agreeing not to join NATO.”
The meeting between Trump and Zelensky will be held in Washington today, Monday, with the presence of U.S. Vice President JD Vance, who has previously had a public disagreement with Zelensky. Several others have announced their participation in the meeting, including German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, French President Emmanuel Macron, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Finnish President Alexander Stubb, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.
