It accused it of violations of international humanitarian law in continuing its discriminatory policies and practices in the occupied Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem. She stressed the importance of the decision as it monitors the effects of the occupation on women and children and calls for urgent measures to protect Palestinian women according to international humanitarian law. It also demands international actions on how to activate United Nations mechanisms and the International Court of Justice against the crimes of occupation against women and to ensure their legal redress.

She continued: “It also spoke of the necessity to support and provide gender-sensitive approaches, and to enhance the role of UN agencies in providing relief and assistance to Palestinian women, specifically in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.”

Regarding the importance of the decision issued, she explained that the decision is specific in light of what they suffer from this aggression, calling for this protection, noting that having a UN decision calling for accountability and protection of Palestinian women is of utmost importance.

The Palestinian minister considered that the decision came as a result of Palestinian diplomatic movement at a high level, whether by the government or civil society institutions. It is regarded as international, UN, and legal recognition of the crimes committed against the Palestinian people and Palestinian women, in violation of humanity and international law, emphasizing the necessity of holding the occupation accountable for these violations.
